CRYSTALS AND A HEALTHY DIGESTION

We were invited to bring our signature sprinkling of crystal magic to a special supper club event hosted by Renew Life and Harley Street nutritionist Rosemary Ferguson at The Hoxton Hotel. Our very own Jill Urwin spoke about crystals and how they affect our gut, and what we can do to harness their powerful vibes for a healthy digestion.

Following an energising breathwork session led by Rebecca Dennis we sat down for a tasty three course meal created to promote a balanced gut and learnt all about the power of crystals to positively affect our health.

SMOKY QUARTZ - Balancing Act 

What is it?

Smoky quartz is the perfect grounding stone to bring balance to our lives - emotionally and physically. It brings harmony by flushing out what’s no longer needed, detoxifying our body and mind, and protecting us from negative inputs.

How can it help my gut?

It’s useful for removing toxins and excess fluids in the body and for stimulating the digestive system. So it’s perfect for bloatedness, cramps and abdominal pain. It’s also associated to the emotions we carry in our stomachs, helping to clear the fogginess to we can tap into our gut instinct. 

 Where should I keep it? 

To help cleanse the digestive system of toxins, you can charge your drinking water with a cleansed smoky quartz tumblestone, which helps to target the stomach directly. 

How should I meditate with it? 

Cleanse blockages from your root chakra upwards by placing a piece of smoky quartz under your bare feet, between you and Mother Earth. Focusing on the stone, visualise the crystalline energy flowing up through your feet as you breathe through 10 minutes of stillness.

EMERALD – Love is the Answer

 What is it?

Emerald is one of the most strengthening stones for the heart chakra. It allows us to release what’s no longer serving us so we can be open to receiving and giving love on all levels. The perfect companion for daily self-care routines.

How can it help my gut?

Emerald can help to target heartburn and stomach pains associated with indigestion. By powering up the heart chakra it can hep to cover up pain and uneasiness. 

Where should I keep it? 

To target pain before it hits, it’s good to keep emerald in the kitchen where you’re preparing food, or near you when you eat.  It’s also perfect to wear as a necklace, making direct contact with your heart. 

 How should I meditate with it? 

Lie on your back and place the Emerald on your heart or wherever your feel discomfort. Close your eyes and with each breath visualise the crystalline energy flowing though your heart, then down and out through your toes. Focus on the weight of the stone as you breathe through the stillness.

CITRINE – Gut Instinct

What is it?

Citrine is associated with happiness, abundance and success. It energises the solar plexus which is where we store all our emotions, feelings, and anxiety. That gut instinct or ‘feeling sick to the stomach’ is a key indicator of an unhappy solar plexus, which can manifest itself physically.

How can it help my gut?

It specifically targets issues associated with the liver, thyroid and kidneys, such as ulcers or reactions from food disorders. It’s extremely cleansing so it can help to flush out toxins.

 Where should I keep it? 

In your pocket, handbag or for more painful stomach issues in your water bottle. It’s good to have around us all the time.

 How should I meditate with it? 

Hold the stone in the palm of your left hand. Our left hand represents letting go. Closing your eyes, brething through he present moment, and keeping your feet flat on the ground, ask the citrine to help you let go of everything that no longer serves you in your gut – letting go of emotional baggage, toxins, worries, and pain.

TIGERS EYE – Give me strength 

 What is it?

Tigers is the best friend we always want by our side. Our rock. When we need strength, courage and wisdom, this is the stone to turn to.  It’s the perfect stone to give us a boost when we’re losing hope or willpower. 

How can it help my gut?

It’s great for helping with stomach pain, particularly cramps related to IBS or menstrual cycles. 

 Where should I keep it? 

It’s good to help target pain, so keep a small piece with you so you’re not caught off guard. 

 How should I meditate with it? 

Hold the stone on the area of pain, with your feet flat on the ground, and breathe through the stillness for 10 minutes. With each breath, visualise the crystalline energy showering your area of pain with a yellow light, soothing the pain and inflammation.

SODALITE – Know Your Truth     

What is it?

Sodalite is an ideal stone to help us understand ourselves better. It helps us tap into our inner truth, communicate better, and inspires inner examination, and connection.  Targeting our throat chakra, this stone is the perfect stabiliser of emotions.

 How can it help my gut?

It targets the thyroid, balances and stabilises metabolism and boosts the immune system, which all in turn helps with digestive disorders.  It can also help us to recognise issues and communicate them as necessary.

 Where should I keep it? 

Either wear it in a necklace, or keep a small piece in you bra, meaning it’s close to your throat. 

 How should I meditate with it? 

Holding your hands in front of your mouth in prayer position, with the sodalite between your palms, take deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth. Visualise the blue crystalline energy flowing though your nose and down through your throat, deep into your stomach. Hold it there, and then release. Repeat this for several minutes, concentrating on your breathing.
